Resume Writing

The art of good resume writing is to present your previous career and educational information in such a way that it emphasizes your suitability for the position applied for and how you will benefit the company you hope to join.

It should also be short enough to keep the reader's attention without having to plough through a mass of detail which is not applicable to the position to be filled.

A good resume or cv should be divided into four sections.-

  • Your personal details.
  • A statement of how you are suitable for and would fit in with the company and the position being applied for.
  • A chronological (latest first) summary of your previous employment emphasizing your achievements or promotions in each situation
  • Details or your qualifications and education as well as a reference to your outside interests.

Different job applications require a different emphasis in your CV or resume. For instance career change resume writing requires a different approach from college resume writing or applying for a similar position to the one you already hold.
